Why Vermicompost ?

The rising economic and environmental cost of Indian agriculture is further marred by ever increasing usage of inorganic fertiliser and agro chemicals resulting in making swaths of land non-arable. Today India tops the per hectare usage of chemical fertilisers reflected from the fact that in the year 2011 the average consumption was 180.75 kg per hectare.
The process of utilising surface dwelling species of earthworms to efficiently and ecologically break down organic waste thus producing superior organic fertiliser as a by- product is referred to as vermicomposting. It is successfully providing sustainable solutions in food production and organic waste management as well as solving in cutting down the usage of chemicals in food production.
